Satanism and Abortion - Individual Rights

It seems that Roe Vs. Wade and abortion have come up again in this country.  So people wonder sometimes where Satanists stand on the issue of abortion.

(A couple of things I want to make clear before I delve into this:

1. I don't represent the Church of Satan or anyone but my individual self.  I'm not even a member of the CoS at this time of writing.  Yet!!!

2. If you've seen self-proclaimed "Satanists" who are from The Satanic Temple in discussions about Satanism and abortion, they don't speak for us real Satanists, either, since they're not a legitimate Satanic group.  I said what I said.  Bite me, pseudos!

Moving on...)

When it comes to the issue of politics and issues like this, Satanists usually are apolitical.  However, we are pro-anything that defends our personal freedoms.  It's not to say that we are all libertarians or anything.  I personally say that individual freedoms cover all political spectrums.  We're also not required to agree on EVERYTHING.  After all, we're. not some collectivist-minded group like The Satanic Temple.

Abortions are a PERSONAL, INDIVIDUAL matter.  It's up to the individual woman to decide what to do with her pregnancy.  She gets to decide what happens with her body and the life inside of it.  No one else gets to say otherwise.  After all, it's her uterus on the line, not anyone else's.  She makes the rules.

I'm aware that Doktor LaVey himself was not a fan of abortion but he stressed that individuals have the right to do what helps achieve their personal happiness.

There are also Satanists who also disagree with abortion in similar manners as LaVey did.  However, we also believe that no one should interfere with an individual's right to make choices that guarantee one's personal happiness.  As Satanists, we hold our personal happiness in the highest esteem.  We individuals can decide whether to keep a pregnancy or to end it early.  It's okay to be selfish about what you decide to do with your body.

To say that abortion is a "satanic sacrament" is stupid.  People who seek abortions or who support it aren't just some stereotypical pseudo-Satanist who enjoys killing the unborn for ritual sacrifice or just for the sake of it.  Abortion is about individual choice; it has nothing to do with politics or stereotypical fake-satanic activity or anything like that.  I hope my repetition of this theme is clear enough.

As a Satanist, I find it ironic that the political party that is the supposed champion of individual rights and who is against government regulation of someone's life is completely ok with having the government violate the individual rights of a certain group just because it suits their personal, hypocritical agendas.  Satanic Sin #4: self-deceit.  Just say what you really want to say when it comes to this issue.  Don't be a hypocrite about it.  If there's one thing I absolutely can't stand, it's a hypocrite, especially a religious/political one.

While both Satanists and "pro-lifers" are both self-declared champions of individual freedom, here's the difference between both groups: I have yet to personally see or hear of Satanists go out of their way to suppress someone else's individual freedom that they disagree with, whether it's by direct political involvement or by other indirect ways, nor have I seen a Satanist show support on social media for suppression of individual freedoms.  You can disagree with abortion; however, you don't have the right to deny someone that medical procedure.

One other thing I want to mention: it really irks me when I hear "pro-lifers" say something snarky and shit-stirring in response to this issue like "don't have sex; you shoulda kept your legs closed."  Remember Satanic Rule of the Earth #1?  The one that says you shouldn't give advice if no one asked you for it?  Yeah, the only thing that should stay closed is your mouth.  Literally no one asked for your "advice."
